Hacking rules addon!
Hacking: a perpetual staple of cyberpunk games. So why doesn't the Rainworld core book have any rules for it?
Well, firstly, because the entire history of cyberpunk TTRPGs says that it integrates badly, splitting the party into, if you're not careful, two entirely separate games that happen to share a gaming session. And they don't share well.
Secondly, because Gibsonian cyberspace is...let me be tactful...a pretty idea that had nothing much do with the realities of computers, then or now.
I could honestly write entire games about cyberpunk hacking, but Rainworld isn't that game — Rainworld is guns, grot, and chickenoids. It's not about hacking. But Rainworld is intended to be hackable — there are a lot of blank spaces in the rules where you can fit in something extra, if you want to. And there's a series of pamphlet-sized rules plugins on the way, which tweak or expand on various aspects.
You can download the first one now. Cyberdeck is the first Rainworld plugin: gear, rules, and a guide to hacking the planet.
(Also in the works are expanded guides to the Manx and the Ganzfeld, along with some other ideas. If there's something you want to see, shout in the comments!)
